The Way You Must Walk

By: Nathan Fletcher

You will walk your own Via Dolorosa,
your way of sorrow.
Maybe with a Simon who helps carry the weight,
or a Peter, strong, yet who falters,
a John who stays,
and a few well meaning zealots who try, but don’t understand.
There will be Judas types too.
Some you’ll see coming.
Some you won’t.
Some you’ll grieve more than you ever imagined.
But walk the way…you must.
And experience it all…you will.
There’s no shortcut through holy ground.
No bypass around heartbreak, regret, or fire.
But hear this:
You will not walk alone.
Yea, Thou… art… with me.
You’ll walk through fear.
Through failure.
Through sin, shame, and silence.
Through mistakes you can’t undo.
Through addictions that tried to master you.
Through lost time, fractured dreams,
and sacred places inside you that still sting when touched.
And yet…
on the other side
of loss and lament,
of dead ends and dark nights,
there is hope.
A new breath.
A new beginning.
A new life.
So walk.
Weep if you must.
Crawl if you must.
But walk.
And trust that the tomb isn’t the end.
Resurrection waits.
