The Mirror and the Mask

In the dance of words, a discordant tune,
Where actions stray, leaving hearts marooned.
Once, in dialogue’s embrace, we found solace true,
But now, a rift has formed, leaving us askew.

Influence now sways, from dubious friends’ domain,
Where once, divine truths, our spirits did sustain.
Questioned, defenses rise, turning swords on me,
Painting me the villain, for daring to be free.

Disagreement, a heresy, in love’s fragile embrace,
Shutting out dissent, in fear of love’s disgrace.
Yearning for change, yet blind to its true call,
Fearing the mirror, where shadows fall.

Do you feel the dissonance, ’twixt mask and soul?
As shadows dwindle, will you find a new role?
With solutions waning, and greater light drawing near,
Will I be condemned, the villain, in fear?

I recall our love, a symphony profound,
Now, seeking someone new, but in you, I’m found.
