The Journey of Suffering and Grace
There are pains that
call softly,
and pains that roar
like thunder.
But then comes the
breaking,
so deep it silences all
else,
leaving you gasping,
wondering if the self
you knew
is lost forever,
or if healing
requires a road you
have yet to tread
one of rediscovery and
grace.
I have wrestled with
the wisdom:
“You can do anything as
yourself,
but you cannot do
anything without yourself.”
The truth stings,
demanding authenticity,
a presence so raw and
whole,
for only in being fully
here,
can progress begin.
And yet, another voice
speaks:
“I am the Vine, you are
the branches.
Get your life from Me.”
His presence eternal,
His love unyielding.
We are drivers of
choice and action,
but the vine sustains,
the vine gives meaning,
the vine makes
fruitful.
Suffering strips us
bare,
pruning what no longer
serves,
tearing illusions apart
to make room for love
greater, deeper,
than we thought we
could hold.
It hurts
but it heals.
“Lean into the pain,”
they told me.
Discover what it
teaches,
what it unearths
beneath the ash of what
was lost.
Ask not only what
you’ve suffered,
but what you’ve gained.
The fruit of suffering
is love
a love that transcends
loss,
a love that does not
wait
for reciprocation to
bloom.
Even in betrayal’s
sharpest sting,
there is Christ,
whose perfect love
endured it all,
making healing
possible,
making wholeness real.
So go through it
step by step,
moment by moment.
Trust the pruning,
trust the growth,
trust the life it
yields.
For this life is not
for nothing.
It shapes, molds,
prepares us for a love
eternal,
a purpose divine,
and a connection
unbroken
with the One who holds
us together.
