The Gamble of Grace
I thought being tough was enough,
like gripping the best
two cards,
certain the game was
mine to win.
But shadows hold their
traumatic secrets,
and sooner or later,
every hand is laid bare
often sooner, and never
how we planned.
We hope love comes with
a safety net,
something to catch us
when we leap.
But love is often a
freefall,
and sometimes the
ground rushes up fast.
Some risks reward us,
others leave us broken
asking if the loss was
worth the cost.
Did you leave with
shame,
guilt heavy in your
chest?
Or did you rise,
humbled,
knowing the game isn’t
over,
and every loss carves a
path to wisdom?
Is grace ever truly a
gamble?
Certainty may elude
you,
but truth will always
be your highest card.
Through grace and
faith,
you’ll find your place
at the table once more
ready to risk
everything again,
this time with a
softened heart
and clear eyes, shaped
by the lessons love has given.
