Lessons of the Leap
Life can feel tough,
like a turtle’s retreat,
You give your heart
freedom, let it wildly beat.
But then there are
times when you hide away,
Inside your shell,
where you’re safe to stay.
Until one day, the
daredevil appears,
Stepping out front,
shedding old fears.
Because that shell can
no longer contain
The spirit that yearns
to rise again.
Like most
thrill-seekers, you face the fall,
Riding downhill, daring
it all.
A ramp, a ditch, with
the risk so clear,
But the reward shines
brighter than any fear.
If you crash, if you
break, at least you know,
You faced the fire, you
felt it grow.
Maybe a kiss for your
valiant try,
But timid souls don’t
touch the sky.
You mounted the bike,
you made your stand,
Pedaling fast like
escaping the damned.
Facing the dragon,
flames in its breath,
You charged at the
challenge, defying death.
We don’t always win, we
stumble, we fall,
But the hero emerges,
despite it all.
And when you soar, when
you make the leap,
It’s not just applause
you’ll forever keep
It’s the boldness you
earned, the strength you’ve made,
For slaying the dragons
that never fade.
It was never about the
win or the cheer,
But the lesson of
being, year after year.
